  This is a 5 star family/diner type restaurant. I have eaten at "supposed" 5 star places. The shack is better in 3 ways: One you don't have to be a dress suit Tuxedo or dress uniform to eat there. Two the portions are large enough for two. And finally...you can eat at the Shack more than once a payday!

  I usually love the food from the Shack. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that I had chosen them for my corned beef and cabbage on Saint Patrick's day. It was not the portions as they are always ample. My main gripe is that they didn't serve brisket but sliced deli corned beef and they didn't cook everything together. The potatoes, carrots and cabbage were completely bland. I have had more flavorful hospital food (which has actually come a long way in certain hospitals such as Backus in Norwich). I am very disappointed as this is the first meal I have had from them that had no redeeming qualities. I'm sure I'll be back for breakfast here some day, they do that consistently well.

  We were visiting in the area and looking a bite to eat. We came a crossed The Shack. The food was great and so was the staff. Menu had a good variety of choices. My husband and I were both satisfied with our meals.
